We’ve finally recup-ed from a radical adventure at SXSW in Austin the week before last, where we met some artists –Toms outlet folks new to the festival and who we’ve seen there for the past few years – who stopped by to pledge their participation in One Day Without Shoes.

Sometimes, Start Something that Matters stories and TOMS outlet stories merge, like when the vision of one social entrepreneur/activist/model’s vision compelled us to invite her on a TOMS Giving Trip to Cambodia.With proceeds from the purchase of an umbrella, Maji supports Oxfam America’s efforts to provide aide and clean water to the region. Each umbrella provides 20 days of clean water to one person.
Start Something that Matters, a book by Cheap TOMS Shoes Chief Shoe Giver, Blake Mycoskie, challenges readers to make a positive change in the world and start a project that matters to them.Ubah Hassan, started her own give-back company called Maji Umbrellas with a friend to address the need for clean water for people living in the horn of Africa. Ubah, born in Somalia, saw the devastation caused by the ongoing drought in the region and wanted to do something to help people in her homeland. Centered around the provision of maji, the Swahili word for water, a company was born.
